About Cyndy

family 2

Don’t let the “laugh lines” around my eyes fool you.  As you can see, I’m still deep in the trenches of motherhood.

Here are the top five facts about me and my VERY patient family…

  1. I’ve been married to my sweet husband since 1981 and he still believes I don’t know how to start the lawn mower.
  2. We are busy raising three children – Freddy, Liz and Anna. (A note to mothers of young children. Catch up on your sleep now. You’ll need it for the teen years.)
  3. I started writing books in 1997 – as an excuse to avoid laundry. The subsequent publication of these musings led to a speaking career – surprising me even more than my children.  “You mean people actually ASK you to talk, Mom?” Now my kids all know how to sort colors – and what to do when the washing machine starts jumping around.
  4. I do most of my writing on the back of fast-food wrappers—usually while waiting for carpool. It still amazes me that there are five books on the shelves bearing my name. That’s a lot of chicken quesadillas.
  5. In my “spare” time, I love to cook, read, and work on family scrapbooks. This last pursuit allows me to permanently destroy any photos of myself I don’t consider flattering.

Oops!

Daisy Our two precocious Westies just reminded me that I left them out. Daisy and Libby are definitely a part of the family.

Right now, I only have a photo of Daisy on my laptop. This probably means Libby is plotting the destruction of another pair of my shoes because I left her out.

  1. Hi Cyndy!

Our site, At Home with Christian Fiction, is currentlly having a makeover. My goal is to make it more “Home” oriented. Recipes, tips, etc. from CF authors will be the focus. With that in mind, I hoped to ask you if you would be interested in having a page for yourself, where you can talk about decluttering, homemaking, keeping life tidy, etc., with regular updates. This page would be given you as I think that the topics you cover would be of great interest to our readers. It would help our site further develop the Home theme, and would provide you additional readers, as well as public promotion. Your credits would be provided on your page.

I’m looking to launch this new look the first week of October. My email address is: simply.a.storyteller@gmail.com/

    Thanks, Cyndy!

    Autumn Blessings,
    Catherine Terry

    Hi, Cyndy!
I have been asked to help prepare an introduction for you at St. Paul’s for Saturday. What would you like us to say? What would you love to have us mention that you would not brag about yourself? We are very excited for Saturday. I heard you speak once long ago at a Covenant women’s retreat and I’ve used your cookbook until it’s just about worn out!

Hi Cyndy! If my memory serves me correctly, you spoke for Calvary Christian Church’s (in Bellevue, NE) MOPS group a few years ago. During that meeting, you received a call that your dad was very ill & we sent you on your way to be with him. You later came & spoke to our ladies & they loved you!! I am now searching for something I can do to bring some fulfillment & also some income for my family & I have always been drawn to organizing my own home & casually helping others. (By the way, I totally understand your comment about young moms sleeping now because they’ll need it for when their kids are teenagers. Love that. How true!!) I am interested in finding out if you know of any local seminars that will allow you to be considered an Organized Professional & be part of networks that help refer people looking for that help. I appreciate any information you can give. Thanks so much! It’s great catching up with you again.

Your daughter is working at our place of business now (she’s so sweet!) and she informed me that you are an accomplished AUTHOR…how exciting! My daughter is a high school student, and just wondering if you had any words of wisdom for my aspiring author?? I enjoy your blog and can’t wait to read one of your books.
    Have a good day!
